We are all surrounded by surveys. We have to fill them out, read their results in newspapers and governments are defined by the information they uncover. In their commission for Phoenix Arts and Leicester Libraries, funded by Arts Council England, artists David Hume and Chris Joseph are trying to give a new voice for the people of Leicester and its surroundings.
By producing surveys that were distributed throughout the libraries and online via this website they are attempting to measure how happy the city is, how artistic and how religious
The two artists are asking over 150 questions, to thousands of people, creating hundreds of thousands of answers. From this they will draw a unique portrait of Leicester City at play, at work and at sleep. Enjoy the surveys - and many thanks for your help with the project.
