About me
What is an electronic writer, anyway?
I create electronic literature, multimedia and interactive art, which may include text, images and video, sounds, music and reader/viewer participation. The Electronic Literature Organization have a useful basic definition of e-lit:
works with important literary aspects that take advantage of the capabilities and contexts provided by the stand-alone or networked computer.
My ongoing projects include:
- Flight Paths, a ‘networked novel’ created collaboratively online, supported by the Arts Council England
- Inanimate Alice, an award-winning series of interactive multimedia stories
- remixworx, a collaborative digital remixing community
Past projects include:
- NRG, a bicycle-powered interactive multimedia installation around the themes of sustainable energy, supported by Arts Council England and the Institute of Creative Technologies @ De Montfort University
- The Breathing Wall, a digital novel that responds to the reader’s breathing rate
- Animalamina, an A-Z collection of multimedia animal poetry for children supported by Canada Council for the Arts
