ARTISTS RESIDENCY SUMU
Arte Association’s Artists’ Residency SUMU offers one- to three-month residencies in 2010 to new media artists, working in the intersection of new technologies and contemporary art.
The residence is located in Turku, in the Southwestern coast of Finland. Artists are provided with free accommodation and studio, and a possibility of exhibiting their work either in Sumu’s studio which is adjoined to Arte’s gallery Titanik, or on Sumu’s website. The artists must fund all their living expenses including food and transportation. Arte can help the artists with material costs up to 200 euros depending on the application.

Phoenix Square (Film and Digital Media) vacancies, Leicester, UK
A new state of the art Digital Media Centre, Phoenix Square (Film and Digital Media) is being opened as part of Leicester’s Cultural Quarter in November 2009. Leicester Arts Centre Limited which previously operated Phoenix Arts will be the end user of this exciting facility in partnership with De Montfort University. The facility includes a multi-screen arts cinema, digital screen lounge, De Montfort University’s digital media showcase “The Cube” a video studio and fully fitted audio, edit and graphic suites.

Creative Support (Part-Time, Interim position for 4 months, renewal monthly thereafter until the appointment of the Creative Director)
We are seeking an experienced professional to provide a part-time, interim, Creative Support role to liaise with the Film Programmer, Digital Programmers and De Montfort University’s Research Fellow to identify and implement a creative offering that positions Phoenix Square (Film and Digital Media) at the forefront of the public facing film and digital media arenas in readiness for launch in November 2009.
The candidate should have knowledge of digital art, cinema and the broadcast scenes, be aware of the “Digital Britain” government direction and be able to engage with the broader community through film and digital media.
It is envisaged that the role will require approximately 3 days involvement per week.
Creative Director (Part-Time)
We are seeking an experienced professional to provide a part-time Creative Director role working with the Film Programmer, Digital Programmers and De Montfort University’s Research Fellow to provide the creative vision for the organisation, drive innovation and new developments in the centre and oversee the programming and commissioning of all creative content. This will aim to position Phoenix Square (Film and Digital Media) at the forefront of the public facing film and digital media arenas – regionally, nationally and internationally, whilst helping to embed Phoenix Square (Film and Digital Media) in the local community.
The candidate must have knowledge of digital art, cinema and the broadcast scenes, be aware of the “Digital Britain” government direction and be able to engage with the community through film & digital media. The Creative Director will be the Public Face of Phoenix Square (Film and Digital Media).
